Who We Are

The Teesworks Benevolent Foundation was established in 2023 as part of a lasting commitment through corporate social responsibility to support and strengthen communities across the Tees Valley.

Founded on the belief that successful businesses should give back, the Foundation is dedicated to creating opportunities, providing vital support for those in need and helping to build a brighter, fairer future for the people in the Tees Valley.

The Teesworks Benevolent Foundation has been formed to help tackle poverty and social deprivation in the Tees Valley, working alongside charities, organisations and local action groups to provide financial support and resources where they’re needed most.

What We Fund

We provide grants to organisations, charities and action groups delivering vital services across the Tees Valley.

Our focus is on supporting projects that:

  • Relieve poverty and social deprivation

  • Assist individuals facing serious social need

  • Provide enrichment, education, learning and employment opportunities

  • Reduce isolation and promote wellbeing

  • Encourage positive activities for children, young people and families

  • Empower communities with dignity, compassion and hope

What We Can Support

  • Food, clothing and essential item provision

  • Community wellbeing and enrichment programmes

  • Youth clubs, mentoring and activity schemes

  • Family support and social inclusion projects

  • Training, skills development and employability services

What We Don't Fund

To focus our support where it’s needed most, we are unable to fund:

  • Projects outside of the Tees Valley

  • Individuals not supported by an Organisation-Local Authority or Community Programme

  • Political, religious or lobbying activity

  • Retrospective funding (projects already completed)

  • Profit-making or commercial ventures

  • Statutory services delivered by public sector bodies

Please note: The Foundation does not deliver frontline services, but supports those who do.

Application & Requirements

What Makes a Strong Application

A good application will:

  • Clearly explain the local need being addressed
  • Align with our funding priorities
  • Outline the positive, lasting difference the project will make
  • Be realistic, achievable and good value for money
  • Show evidence of appropriate safeguarding if applicable
  • Highlight partnerships or community collaboration

We encourage projects that tackle problems with dignity, offer long-term solutions and give hope to people in our communities.

Minimum Requirements to Apply

You must be a registered charity, voluntary group, social enterprise, Community Interest Company (CIC) or community organisation working within the Tees Valley.

  • Have a governing document or constitution

  • Operate a bank account in the organisation’s name

  • Provide up-to-date financial accounts

  • Hold appropriate safeguarding and insurance policies where required

  • Have the ability to demonstrate how funding will be used and its positive impact
